DESCRIPTION
Ref: #127 in Carlisle book of the Shelburne collection. The paper on some of these commemorative boxes are historic documents. The Erie Canal was completed in 1825; this box (according to Carlisle) was manufactured shortly thereafter.

For some reason wallpaper boxes have dried up— historic scene example even more so.

This is a personal collection item acquired from a St Louis estate a few years ago. It has what look like accession numbers from a prior curation.

CONDITION
Green is solid; yellow faded. With lid removed you can see original coloration. The lid band is partly detached from top. A simple fix if desired but it is fairly sturdy as is. Please see photos.
