DESCRIPTION
Bright, decorative, and very interesting. Ref: Lilian Carlisle's "Shelburne Museum Bandboxes pp. 161. The main design is called Eros with Chaplets: A pastoral scene with two cherubs poised mid-air holding a wreath above the head of a Empire gowned woman reclining on a mossy hillock caressing a white lamb.

The lid is called Turkish Inhabitants (Carlisle pp. 155) dated circa 1830.

 "Youth's Penny Gazette" paper dating 1845 lines only the bottom and was probably a later addition.

Acquired from an old DC estate collection that dates back to the 1960s
