Flocked Wallpaper Bandbox circa 1840s

$0.00

SIZE
7" diameter x 8" tall

DESCRIPTION
Desirable smaller size is harder to find than the big ones. Good for topping stacks. The smaller boxes were never scenic and frequently used border design papers either alone or in tandem (as with this one). Here we have a large blue pansy flower along with melon leaf tendrils. The ground is red flocking. Retains strong colors. Very splashy.

Acquired from an old DC estate collection that dates back to the 1960s

CONDITION
Lid fits snug. Well traveled but quite good. Any issues are evident in the photos. 180 year old wallpaper that traveled on stage coaches. Its a miracle these things survive in any condition. Please examine the photos carefully. The photos tell the story.
