SIZE
3 1/2 inches tall; 3 1/2 in diameter.

DESCRIPTION
Sanders (aka pounce pots) were an essential tool of 18th and 19th century quill pen writing. They contained a fine powder (pounce) which was shaken on freshly penned papers to help blot and dry the ink. The tops of these things are deeply concave to facilitate collecting and recycling the used pounce. An appropriate and decorative eccoutrement for antique desk or table.

This one is as good as they get. Elegant form with original felt bottom. Super finely turned and finished hard maple with beautiful color and patina.
