117-11-- Antique Karabagh Main Carpet

$0.00

SIZE
  6ftx 11 ft 6 in

DESCRIPTION
Probably South Caucasus or North Azerbeijan. Wool foundation with very finely woven triple selvedge. Probably Karabagh-- but not impossible its from Armenia area. The abundance of aubergine and other colors date this right around 1910. Size and design is reminiscent of Soumak. Obviously this is a very splashy and dynamic rug. Size is extremely rare for a Caucasian rug. Most old Caucasian rugs are thin and worn. This one is very sturdy and floor-worthy. A great and dynamic larger piece at an affordable price.

CONDITION
Photos tell the story. The main issues are damaged selvedges on the far end. There is also a buckle repair on that end which could and should be redone better.
