919-17-- Antique Saveh Lightning Medallion Rug

$0.00

SIZE
approx 4.5 x 6.6

DESCRIPTION
Lightning medallion design harks of so-called Mazlaghans (most of which were actually made in the village of Kerdar). Keep in mind that both Mazlaghan and Kerdar are in the Saveh area east of Hamadan. But there are elements of this design that suggest Shasavan. There's a small enclave of these people in Saveh and they were (according to Ford) responsible for the so-called Saveh Pomegranate rugs which resemble this rug both in terms of weave, colors, and minor motif elements. With white medallion this is a very dynamic and decorative piece.

CONDITION
Somewhat shabby because there's wear and exposed foundation. Some difficult to see because they did touch up work in Europe. (Primarily the indigo in the center). Please examine the photos carefully. The photos tell the story.

We recommend that you call us at the shop for concise in-hand condition reports.
