DESCRIPTION
Early Caucasian textile with double Lesge medallions. Ever see one on white field? There is an archaic aspect that suggests possibly greater antiquity than late 19th cent. Reminiscent of table rugs from Dutch Renaissance paintings. 1850? earlier? Not sure. Above my pay grade. Solid enough to go on a low traffic floor area with a pad. Certainly would be very splashy as a wall hanger. Hard not to love this rug.

CONDITION
This rug was restored by an master. Looks like Turkish work. Very fine reknotting here and there. Original sides and ends are MIA. We'll never know for sure what was out there. What they did was completely reweave a fine narrow single cord selvedge to the sides. Not something just sewn on but looks to have been actually rewoven into the original wefts. Pretty amazing work. Please examine the photos carefully. The photos tell the story.
