Pennsylvania Vorschrift Taufschein Fraktur 1786

$0.00

SIZE
12 1/2 x 13 1/2" (with frame)

DESCRIPTION
Finely wrought specimen of southeast PA art. Possibly Mennonite. One would think that along with date there's enough to identify this maker. Especially with the unique iconography such as the pelican. I spent about an hour searching various sources and came up empty. Note the verbiage on back. Interesting regarding the business of the pelican self depredation. Nice period lemon gold frame. Rare to find 18th cent PA taufschein in any condition. This one is still very lively, decorative, and academically very interesting.

CONDITION
Old museum type curation with light mount on acid free backing. Note photos out of frame. Water stains upper right. Quite a bit of attrition-- mostly caused by the black ink which probably contained walnut hulls which is corrosive. Please examine the photos carefully.
