Early 19th cent Still Life Oil/ Canvas Peale School

$0.00

SIZE
stretcher is 19 x 23 1/2; frame size is 25 x 30

DESCRIPTION
Fine American still life attributed to Peale School. Use of the bone handled knife and other conventions is consistent with Rembrandt Peale. The use of landscape in the upper right is a pre victorian convention. In addition the hand hewn stretcher and canvas material indicates early 19th century manufacture. The colors are remarkably fresh and vivid. Wonderful Period gold frame. Exceptionally decorative piece compatible with American Period antiques.

CONDITION
Canvas is in remarkable original condition. Sturdy; no tears. Rare to find a painting this old that has never been relined. (and doesn't need it)
